As we step into 2025, we’re thrilled to reflect on the strides we’ve made in December and all throughout the last year to empower the FinOps and cloud cost management practices of our customers.
These updates mark another milestone in our journey to continuously improve your experience, providing the insights and control you need to manage cloud costs efficiently. Whether you’re refining user permissions, optimizing your integration setup, or uncovering cost-saving opportunities in AWS, our latest features are designed to help you kick off the new year with confidence and precision, and to showcase our commitment to delivering intuitive functionality that makes cloud cost management simpler and more effective for your team.
Read below to learn about the most notable features and enhancements our team has rolled out in the past month.
Cost Type Access By Group
What it is: We’re excited to announce that Cost Type Access by Group is now generally available. This new feature builds on the role-based access control (RBAC) functionality that we rolled out throughout 2024 by allowing customers using User Groups to implement more granular data access controls across their organization. With the ability to limit visible cost types and set default cost types for specific user groups, organizations can better tailor their CloudZero experience to meet the unique needs of different teams and users.
Customer value: With this feature, organizers can now define which cost types are visible to users within limited access user groups, ensuring each user only accesses the data they need in CloudZero Explorer and Analytics. Additionally, Organizers can establish default cost types for both limited and full access user groups, simplifying workflows by presenting the most relevant data upfront.

SSO Integration Enhancements
What it is: We’re excited to unveil the latest enhancements designed to simplify and streamline the SSO integration management experience in the CloudZero platform. With a unified view of all your integrations, you can now access and manage multiple SSO connections effortlessly in one centralized location. This update also empowers you to easily create new integrations and remove outdated ones, giving you greater flexibility and control over your setup.
Additionally, testing SSO connections is now smoother than ever. Tests are completed seamlessly within the CloudZero platform and, if successful, you’re brought right back to your original page to continue setup without ever needing to leave the console.
Customer value: This group of enhancements provides improved visibility and clear guidance for setting up new integrations, eliminating guesswork and ensuring you always know your next steps, making it much easier for you to maintain SSO hygiene and living up to our ultimate goal of delivering a seamless user experience in every aspect of the CloudZero platform. New AWS Auto Insights
What it is: We have rolled out two new automated insights for AWS.
Consider Eliminating Spend on IPv4 Addresses: With AWS now charging for the use of IPv4 addresses in an effort to discourage the use of public IPs, this new insight identifies costs associated with AWS-provided IPv4 addresses, indicating opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs and providing suggestions for how to eliminate or optimize costs related to public IPv4 addresses in your AWS environment. This insight is triggered if total spend on IPv4 addresses is greater than $500.
Consider Intelligent-Tiering or Lifecycle Rules for S3: This Insight identifies when there are S3 buckets with spend only on Standard Storage, indicating that use of Intelligent-Tiering or Lifecycle policies could be applied to reduce cost. While standard storage is the default storage class for objects in S3, it is also the most expensive. By leveraging S3 Intelligent-Tiering or S3 Lifecycle, customers can save up to 10% on storage costs. This insight is triggered if 10% of the total spend on S3 buckets that use Standard storage only is greater than $500.
Customer value: Each of these new automated insights provides guidance for optimizing areas that indicate a high likelihood of wasteful spending that AWS may not natively alert customers about. As always, our goal is to highlight simple yet effective ways for our customers to eliminate unnecessary costs in their environment and maintain ultimate efficiency across their entire cloud environment.
